How To Share Your Faith In An Authentic Way

Let’s be honest, sharing our faith can be awkward. It’s hard to walk the line of being too pushy and not sharing enough. We don't always know how receptive someone is to learning about faith and what hang-ups they may have about Christianity. At the end of the day, there is no formula for what the best approach is in each situation. The important part is that our heart is in the right place.

Here are a few pro tips the Bible gives us...

Be Gentle & Respectful. 1 Peter 3:15: “but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence”

It’s Not JUST For Non-Believers. Romans 1:12 “that is, that I may be encouraged together with you while among you, each of us by the other’s faith, both yours and mine.”

Lead By Example 1 Peter 5:3 “not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock.”

Follow Christ’s example. 1 Corinthians 11:1 “Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ.”

Do Not Be Ashamed. 2 Timothy 1:8 “Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord or of me His prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God”

Talk About What He’s Done. Psalm 105:1 “Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples. Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; Speak of all His wonders.”

The most important part of all is to be in tune with God. If you’re feeling that God is leading you to share about Him, do it! Pray about it. Ask Him to help you and guide you in the conversation. And if you’re not exactly sure what to say, just share what He has done in your life. Personal testimonies are usually the most impactful!

Just remember, it’s not your job to convince someone to be a Christian. When we put it on ourselves to be the ones who must save others, we’re missing the point. The only one who can save anyone is God himself.

How do you share your faith with others? I’d love to hear what works best for you and if there are any specific verses that you turn to!

With love,
