Asheville Birthday Trip
Hello friends!
For my birthday this year we decided to take a trip to Asheville, NC! I'm actually originally from North Carolina but hadn't spent that much in Asheville, AND I have a lovely client there, so it was the perfect location for a weekend getaway! As always, we love to keep our travels low-key, relaxing, and budget friendly, so if you're looking to visit Asheville I hope this can be helpful to you!
On this trip, the lovely people at cabi clothing sent me some pieces to make my birthday even more special! There's nothing better than new clothes for your birthday and it was really fun to style these looks to fit each part of our trip! Let me know if you have a favorite outfit in the comments!
We got to stay in the cutest Tiny Cabin right outside of Asheville in Swananoa. It was a great location because it was only a 10-15 minute drive to downtown but we still had Mountain views, privacy and relaxation. The best part? There was no additional fee for bringing our dog, Snickerdoodle! This was a great budget find and I'd recommend it... as long as you are OK without having WiFi or much cell signal. Honestly, that was super needed for me so I could fully unplug!
Once we got settled into our AirBnB, I headed to the ever-so-trendy River Arts District to visit my amazing client Mountain Laurel Digital. For this meeting, I wanted to bridge the gap between professional and casual. By pairing this plaid spring blazer with these light-washed rugged jeans, I felt confident, classy (with a little edge) and completely myself.

Since it was my birthday, I wanted to get dressed up a little for a fun date outfit, so I chose this fitted crop jumpsuit and paired it with these gold mules! It was a little on the colder side in Asheville so I paired it with this cozy rob-like cardigan and finished the look off with gorgeous chandelier earrings and layered bracelet. I loved how these pieces made me feel chic but comfortable at the same time!
I love how soft the fabric is and how the thick waistband makes it both flattering and comfortable!
I love this man so much! He took the time to make me feel special and do the silly things I enjoy like sight seeing and taking photographs!
We walked around the Grove Arcade and took some photos. It was gorgeous, but there honestly wasn't a ton to do besides browse a few shops. We tried to go upstairs and got rejected by a woman on the elevator! Apparently it's all apartments upstairs and you're only allowed if you're a resident.
On Saturday day we decided to walk around downtown Asheville to see the sights and grab some food! It was still raining most of the day, but that actually meant it wasn't quite as crowded which was nice!
I wore the same rugged jeans as the day before but paired them with the cabi's Expedition Jacket which just felt perfect for the location and weather, their Watson Pullover for a cozy and relaxed vibe, the Cha-Cha Charm Necklace to dress it up a bit, and the Safari Belt to complete the look.
Isn't Asheville's Historic Flat Iron Building just gorgeous? Inside you'll find the World Coffee Cafe & Skybar. I wanted to actually check out the Skybar for a view of the city, but we decided to skip it this time since it was raining. Let me know if you've been there, I'd love to hear how it is!
We happened to walk by Isa's Bistro right around the time we started to get hungry, and after checking out the menus of a few other restaurants, we decided to stop there for a late brunch. And thank goodness we did! On this trip we planned to only eat out once, and I'm so glad this is the one place we chose! The brunch was not only delicious, but it was also decently priced.
I ordered the NC Chicken and French Toast which was AMAZING. The chicken was soaked in sweet tea & fried and it was paired with thick sourdough french toast, topped with berries and sorghum syrup. Josiah ordered the Eggs Benedict Du Jour, and that day, it was topped with scallops! He seemed to love it!
After we finished walking around downtown, we headed to the Black Mountain area (right by our AirBnB in Swannanoa) to visit Oak and Grist Distillery where we had signed up for a tour. The distillery was very cool and our tour/tasting guide Ashley was really sweet and informative.
How cute is their tasting room?
We got to meet their adorable dog, Cyrus!
It finally stopped raining the morning we were leaving, so we made the most of it by going on a quick hike! Luckily there was a trail right behind our tiny cabin, so it was super convenient to go before we left.
For the final day I went for a safari-chic look. The flirty sleeves on this top were so cute and I loved tucking it in to show off my belt. This adorable scarf finished off the look!
My two favorites!!
The hill was really steep, and to be honest, Snickerdoodle might have done the majority of the work pulling me up the mountain! We didn't make it too far up the hill before we needed to take a break!
It looked like we were walking through a jungle!
I'm so glad we got to take some time and getaway for the weekend. There's nothing I love more than quality time with this guy! For more of our budget friendly travel adventures, check out the travel section!
Have you ever been to Asheville? What are your favorite spots? I'd love to visit again sometime and see even more of the sights (preferable when it's not raining!).
With love,
